Since its foundation in 1964, the University of Lübeck, which has been established as a foundation university since 2015, has developed into a successful life sciences university thanks to its top-class medical profile in research and teaching. Today, the range of subjects extends far beyond medicine with computer science, natural sciences and technology, but science and teaching make use of the close proximity to the hospital in many ways.
